About Shannon

Hi. I’m Shannon.
I’m a Texas Master Naturalist, recovering corporate cog, late-in-life lesbian, and relentless chaser of awe.
I’ve spent most of my life in professional pursuits advancing others, from civilian contractor for the U.S. military and non-profits to Fortune 100 corporate. I’ve worked very hard at being very good at things that had nothing to do with birds, clay, cameras, or chasing rainbows. Eventually I decided to find out what would happen if I oriented my life around the things that actually light me up.
So far it’s meant a lot of time in nature with a camera and hours behind canvases, a pottery wheel, and 3D printer, and more than a few days in or under my SUV as it’s slowly converted into a mobile field studio, all with Lily, my one-eyed rescue pit mix and permanent shadow nearby.
Chasing Awe is where nature, tech, space, LGBTQIA+ life, and the occasional honest detour all live together, because that’s how they live in me. I’ve started over more than once. (I have thoughts.)
I’m glad you’re here.
